100 deviations.... It's only been about 8 months since I started doing Photography + Photoshop, but it feels like I've been doing it forever. I feel like sharing the story of how I was introduced to this wonderful art.
Up at cornell. It was about mid october, walking to a party. It was fairly warm out for that month up in Ithaca. I had a couple drinks in me. Walking uphill with my friend, I stumble upon a leather case lying on the ground. I reach down and pick it up, pop the top flap. It was a Canon Powershot SD400 (I think). Now my fist instinct was to check the pictures on it to see if it was anyone I knew. There were some random photos on it taken of people I've never seen before. We walked into the party. I got another beer and went out to the balcony. I was still playing with this camera...taking pictures of my feet, the night sky, my friends...I was starting to get a warm feeling.
Twi weeks went by, and still...no word on the camera. I claimed it as my own (what else was I supposed to do!?!?!). I had never owned a camera before. I was very into music throughout highschool and just never branched out. It was amazing...
I started out taking it when going out with my friends, just snapping away...learning how to use this prize. After I went home to upload the pictures, I'd scroll through all of the spontanious snapshots I had taken and laugh. I loved it! None of this smile-and-pose crap! I was capturing the moment of our day! I brought the camera everywhere...and started to get a bit more artsy with it. If I'd see somethign neat, I'd snap it away. My friends started to look at me funny when I would lay down underneat the chain link fence next to the sidewalk and start taking pictures of it from below...thus is began.
Now my buddy
My life has never been the same.
About the camera I found.....I wound up losing it last january...the irony! It was the magical camera that just appeared to me - inspired me - and left me. I've had two other cameras since then (that I didn't lose yet
Looking at my work, I really think I've progressed over this 9-10 months. This is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I'm working for a photography/photojournalism/graphic design company up in Ithaca come the end of this month. I couldn't be more excited.
Thanks to everyone who has supported me in this community this past "almost-year"!
